Ask the Expert Classes on Meaningful Use

Today’s blog article is written by Shari H.  Shari is an OfficeMate Implementation Consultant working remotely in North Carolina.

Eyefinity offers a wide variety of resources to help you successfully complete and attest to meaningful use using OfficeMate/ExamWRITER. For example, our Meaningful Use Starter Kit includes short videos, check lists, and instructions that describe each measure, any exclusion, and how to complete the measure. But sometimes you need additional advice, or perhaps your practice is in a peculiar situation regarding meaningful use. If you feel like you could use additional guidance, we have a class for you!

We’ll be offering a special meaningful use edition of our Ask the Expert classes. There will be three sessions available on the following dates and times:

  • Friday, August 31, 2012 at 10 a.m. ET
  • Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 3 p.m. ET
  • Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 10 am ET

The Meaningful Use Ask the Experts class will answer your questions on what you need to do to meet the requirements for attestation in 2012. The presenters of this class have taught hundreds of ECPs to successfully demonstrate meaningful use to collect thousands of dollars in payments with OfficeMate/ExamWRITER.

The Ask the Expert series has been very successful in helping our clients answer specific questions in all areas of the program such as examinations, billing, and inventory. We know that you have questions. These classes give you a chance to ask them and speak one on one with an expert. Many clients have attended these sessions just to listen to what other clients are asking. This is your time, your forum, your questions.

This special class was created to take the scariness out of attestation. Doctors and practice managers will benefit greatly from attending one of the scheduled meaningful use sessions. The class has been scheduled with your convenience in mind. 24 hour advanced registration is all that is needed. You may submit up to three questions upon registration. The format will be an open forum (45 minute to 1-hour sessions).  If no questions have been submitted the presenters will review the meaningful use resources available.

Register for an Ask the Expert—Meaningful Use session:

  1. Go to
  2. Click the Training Center tab.
  3. Click the Daily tab.
  4. Use the calendar within the Daily tab to move to your desired session date.
  5. Click the Register link on the right side of the session in which you want to enroll.
  6. Enter your contact Information.

We hope that you will take advantage of this Ask the Expert class on meaningful use. As always, we welcome your feedback

The Secret to a Happy Life: Love Your Work

Michael O.

Michael O. is a Sr. Technical Writer at Eyefinity.

The number of secrets to a happy life abounds, but one of the most popular is “loving your work” or “doing what you love.” Optometrists are regularly listed as one of the best jobs by the likes of CNN and U.S. News & World Report, and the profession even rounded out the top 10 least stressful jobs in CNN’s 2010 rankings. The fact that job satisfaction among optometrists is high is not surprising to me; optometrists seem to be genuinely happy people.

My profession, technical writer, is also consistently listed among the best jobs to have in America. Like optometrists, I’m sure the job satisfaction for technical writers is based, in large part, on the work environment and the engagement of the individual practitioner. There are good writing jobs, and there are bad ones. I have had writing jobs where work was drudgery and job satisfaction was low. Since I started at Eyefinity six years ago, there is never a day where I dread going to the office. In fact, Eyefinity is the most fast-paced and engaging workplace I have encountered.

One of the aspects I like most about working at Eyefinity is the diversity of the projects in which I am involved. My duties engage me in writing documentation for OfficeMate, ExamWRITER, and AcuityLogic, answering meaningful use questions posed by clients, creating content for, and helping manage content for our Twitter, blog, and Facebook social media channels. Eyefinity never sits still, and that keeps my job interesting.

Additionally, I get to work with a group of dedicated and intelligent people, which makes working on projects a stimulating experience. Being surrounded by talented people forces me to step up my game and exceed even my own expectations.

Eyefinity is an environment that embraces my creativity. I feel like my ideas and concerns are taken seriously and my suggestions are welcome. Sometimes, people even ask for ideas and suggestions, which makes me feel like a valued and important part of the company.

Whether I stay with Eyefinity for decades, or move on to another opportunity, I’ll be sure to hold on to the following approaches that I’ve learned and benefited from over my years here:

  • Never sit still. You can’t expect to be successful and engage others if your goal is to do the same thing day in and day out. Innovate, create, and stretch beyond your comfort zone.
  • Surround yourself with talented people. Don’t be threatened by talent and intelligence. Choose smart people to work with and step up your own game.
  • Embrace the creativity in others. Allow everyone to feel like their talents and expertise are appreciated and allow them to share in the glory of the company’s success.

I love my job, and a large part of that is because I work for such a great company.
