Show me the (stimulus) money! The checks are now arriving!

Electronic health records (EHR) stimulus checks are now in the mail for those who have become meaningful users of a certified EHR. Dr. Jeffrey Willig, an ophthalmologist and meaningful user of OfficeMate/ExamWRITER based in Syosset, NY, was one of the first in the eyecare industry to receive the federal incentive payment ($18,000 for the first year).

Don’t miss out on your chance to take advantage of the stimulus money available to you. Eyefinity’s ‘Meaningful Strategies to Meaningful Use’ resource will help guide you down the path of achieving meaningful use.  The stimulus money is both real and attainable.  Meaningful Use is quite simple once you understand its basic concepts, and Eyefinity is here to help you every step of the way.

  1. I’m curious if the doctors highlighted in your blog utilized the exclusion for for core measure #8 (vital signs). If they did record height and weight, were either of these (particularly weight) self-reported by the patient?

    • Dr. Allred –

To the best of my knowledge, the exclusion of core measure #8 has been used by all up to this point. Although, if an eligible provider is recording and reporting the vital signs, acquiring the information through self reporting by the patient is quite acceptable.

  2. I would also like to receive my government check, but my version of the software is not certified. When will I receive the certified version?

    • Thanks for your comment. We are absolutely committed to making sure you and all our customers have every opportunity to become meaningful users of our certified product, so that you are eligible to apply for the stimulus money. The wide release of our certified product (OfficeMate/ExamWRITER v10.5) is in its final testing stages, and you can expect to see information on upgrading to this version within the coming weeks.

The doctors highlighted on our blog, who have received their stimulus money, were part of a limited beta-test group who were using our certified product to provide feedback to our developers. Their feedback is helping our team streamline the features in this product in order to make it more efficient and ultimately reduce the learning curve for our user base. In the meantime, you should ensure that your computer hardware and software meet the minimum system requirements of our certified product.

Also, you may want to check out our Meaningful Strategies to Meaningful Use resource page, which will help prepare you and your staff as you get ready to implement our certified product.
